Promo Pack A promo pack is a variation of a Press Kit which is commonly used to inform the media of an artist the difference between the two is that a promo pack is used for booking shows, searching for record deals, publishing deals, organising a management and legal team and gaining airtime on the radio and television.
The contents of a typical promo pack:
•The artist's biography
•A photo of the artist/band
•A fact sheet
•Write-Ups and/or press releases
•A demo tape (3-5 of their best songs)
•A song list
•A lyric sheet
It would also include all copyright and contact information. Video and Digipack It is important for the music video and the digipack to link in some way as it then helps the audience to see they are both promoting the same thing. Similarities could include such things as having George on the front cover of the DVD case as he is the has the main actor part in the video. Clothes could also be a main aspect as the outfit he wears in the video he could also be wearing on the front cover. Backgrounds are another useful link, for example a lot of our video is filmed in the countryside or high street, so a shot from either would reflect on the video directly. This shows a comparison and a link from the music video to the front cover of my digipack.
This is a similar interior design, but I have used a different font for the bands name. The font is the actual official font that the band use for their name print. There is a bigger space for the album contents than the first digipack interior, although a smaller space for the picture of the band.
Here are some Flat plans of 3 digipack ideas that have been scanned:
Interior:
This is a simple and well structured interior with a reasonably large picture of the band, including a space for the album contents. Over the plastic DVD holder, there is the name of the band in large text with the album hit single and the song we are doing in addition.

This exterior design has it's advantages and disadvantages. The main eye catching feature of the front is the band name. Just below the band name in slightly smaller font is the album hit single, so the target audience will recognise this as being a popular song. In addition to this, the spine too has the name of the song. There is a small picture of the band on the back, lower quarter, this, in hindsight would look much better bigger, maybe even migrate it to the front of the DVD digipack. The album contents is creative, but is perhaps more of a hinder than anything, so rotating that would be more effective.
This interior design is simple yet effective, the font of the band name is the same font as the band use on the album, so this will show correlation between to two, the target audience will recognise this. The picture space is boxy, and after evaluating it, I would get rid of the box and include a general space where an image can be placed. The album contents is easier to read this way up, as the audience will not have to tilt the DVD digipack case to read it.
Just by looking at this digipack design I can tell that space was not used effectively. There is far too much empty space, and this could be filled with colour or even a photo. The album contents is almost squished into the upper quarter of the rear of the case design. The logos and certificates, although important, take up too much room of the digipack, they are of too larger scale.

This is the interior of the final digipack DVD case, it is similar to the front but not the same photo. Both the interior and the exterior of the DVD case cover the subject of the song, 'When the night feels my song'.
For the exterior of the DVD case, I have included the album songs, with the artist name and the song we are filming to on the front cover of the promo pack.

Some of the feedback includes the advert.
